Conference on civil actions against the police is a success
October 26, 2013 - Toronto - Over 80 registrants attended a conference held today at Osgoode Hall Law School on civil actions against the police. The conference was co-sponsored by Charney Law and Community Legal Aid Services Program (CLASP), the student-run legal clinic at the law school. Headlined by Jane Doe, the plaintiff in Doe v. Toronto and Julian Falconer, lawyer for Maher Arar, the program covered legal, ethical and practical aspects of civil claims against the police. The afternoon panel comprised Davin Charney, Angela Chaisson and Marshall Swadron who spoke on damages and other remedies.
