Marshall Swadron speaks at Canadian Bar Association Wills and Estates Program

October 16, 2015 - Toronto - Marshall Swadron spoke today at the Canadian Bar Association's Will, Estate and Trust Fundamentals for Estate Practitioners program held this year at the Intercontinental Toronto Centre. Marshall presented a workshop entitled Personal Care and End of Life Issues which addressed the role of estate lawyers in helping clients communicate their wishes respecting end-of-life decisions. The presentation used fact scenarios to address the potential unintended consequences of some common advanced directives found in powers of attorney for personal care and invited the participants to contribute their own practices in this area. The presentation then examined the role of the Consent and Capacity Board in Ontario in resolving disputes that can arise in the area of end-of-life decisions.
